This was our first time at Toronto Fashion Week, our first time attending a fashion show of this magnitude, and our first time really getting out there and talking to SO many bloggers, stylists, buyers, merchandisers, and just down right amazing people! Such a rush!
We were lucky enough to attend the shows on both Day 2 and Day 5, thanks to a very good friend of ours Catherine. After a bit of a taste, you can only imagine how zealous we were that we weren’t able to be in attendance the entire week. None the less, here are a few shots of us at the tents! Out of the designers we saw, one of the first and also one of our favourites was David Dixon!
David Dixon was all about women empowerment! The show began with a video where a woman was frowned upon when making a comment in regards to the gentlemen’s conversation. Showcasing that women should not speak for we do not know half of what men know. Men are smarter than us but then the screen shatters and says ‘bullshit!’ It was probably one of the best openings I (J) saw from all the shows that we watched. The one aspect that really popped from Dixon’s show was the neck feature of all the feathers! I absolutely adored it! I could really see this being a trend for next fall. I know I’ll be rocking it! 🙂
David Dixon’s show was definitely very empowering. The music was enticing (insert Run The World by Beyonce here) and the models looked and felt so comfortable and sexy in his clothing. The strong lines of blacks and whites, the pop of cobalt blue, and who can forget about those stunning crystalized accessories in everything from earrings, ear cuffs, necklaces and bracelets. Such a fantastic finishing touch to these sophisticated, yet edgy looks. Here are a few shots of us enjoying the tents after the show 🙂
On J: Blazer- Forever 21, shirt- Alexander Wang, pants- H&M, necklace- Aldo, heels- Louboutin, flats- Zara
On K: Top/Bottom/Heels-Zara (Can you tell I’m obsessed?) Necklace-H&M, Bracelets-J.Crew
Stay tuned for more! -j&k

I had the pleasure of meeting Emily Weiss from Into The Gloss blog! She was absolutely stunning that night and she is so down to earth and open to everyone!
How did we meet exactly?
Well Holt Renfrew, a leading luxurious fashion specialty department store in Toronto was hosting the Powder Puff event in collaboration with Mercedes Benz. The Powder Puff event was like a beauty parlour for all the beauty fanatics out there!
All guests were introduced to the new launches of Nars and Laura Mercier Spring cosmetic collections, treated to manicures, makeup brush cleansing, oeuvres, consultations by ALL makeup lines such as Chanel, Bobbi Brown, Guerlain, Cle de Peau, Burberry, Dior, and so on. They were many options! Here are a few photos of all the booths set up!
Holt Renfrew had brought in Emily Weiss as their special guest to talk about all the latest Spring beauty must haves of the season! Lisa Tant, former Flare editor in chief, who is now the Fashion Editor at Holt Renfrew interviewed Emily about all beauty essentials for Spring and Emily spoke about her latest obsessions which are bold brows and bold lip colours!
After all the beauty prep you received Holt Renfrew also provided this very chic vanity photo booth set up where we got to take photos of our finished looks!
Did I mention there was a DJ?
Oh it was a fanastic and very successful night! I had the best time and the highlight of the night was definitely meeting Emily!
We headed down to College Street a few days ago on what we thought at the time, was one of the coldest days of the year, for a little lunch and window shopping. We were lucky enough to catch the last of the sunlight and got a few shots in with our new Canon T3i camera. What do you think? College Street, quite specifically Little Italy, is one of our favorite areas in Toronto; known for locally owned shops, boutiques and of course restaurants. Some of our favorites are below
One of the best brunch spots I (K) know? – Aunties & Uncles (cheap, cheerful & delicious- on a Sunday morning around 11am? Expect a bit of line up)
How about some of the best corn on the cob you’ll ever taste? La Carnita’s is a must (GREAT street art decor!)
Don’t have much going on Friday night? Head over to Riva Supper Lounge for a fabulous night out with friends! Great place for some Italian cuisine with exposed brick interior, then head to the back room where booths are set up and the DJ plays the best Top 40 and Trance!
Of course, we can’t forget about the best gelato in the city at Dolce Gelato (Cream Cacao for J and Pistachio for K)
Looking to have a cosmo with the girls? Head over to Eat My Martini
Where are some of your favorite spots on College?

I met Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere at her in-store appearance & book signing on Saturday at Holt Renfrew, and it was a great success. I had such a good time, and left even more excited than when I had arrived. Alongside my good friend Simone, we were able to get there about an hour early, get assigned a number from the event co-ordinator on the 3rd floor in the cashmere department, and browse around before getting into a line to await Emily’s arrival. With intricate details such as porcelain teacups, a Victorian-style frame as a backdrop, paired with retro style chairs & a pop of tangerine color – the atmosphere was perfect. Add a few Prairie Girl cupcakes to the mix and us girls were in heaven. (I was anyways, their cupcakes are amazing!)
I am so inspired by Emily, and the success that has come from her site. The dedication she has for her followers and fans really came through as she spent a few minutes with each of us to thank us for coming out and answering any questions we had for her. It was a bit intimidating thinking of what I wanted to say to her. I didn’t want to be redundant and tell her what I assumed everyone else was telling her which was “Hi Emily, I LOVE your blog!”, haha. I did let her know that she was and continues to be a big inspiration to both Julie and myself, and asked her advice on how we can improve, maintain and sustain a successful blog. Her advice was to keep a very clean looking site, with great photos, relevant content, and remember to have fun. I think we can all agree on said advice, right?
A big thank-you to Holt Renfrew on Bloor for hosting this event. It was beautifully executed, and all the staff, as usual, were very accommodating. I am smitten with Emily’s book. I think it’s the perfect gift for any stylish girl on your Christmas list this who loves to entertain, enjoys a good desert, an even better cocktail, and some fab d-i-y projects. (I’m lookin at you pg.152!) 😉
