Friends!

How can we begin to apologize for our absence? Telling you we’ve both been busy would be an understatement. We haven’t had much of a social life, and have had such a hard time even making time to see each other! The summer weather was hiding from us over here in Toronto for the longest time making photo ops difficult to schedule, and working overtime has become the norm. We’ve been grinding as much as we could in preparation for this trip we’re taking! If any of you follow us on Twitter, you’ll know that Julie and I are going to Paris & Barcelona this month! We actually leave in a few days! It is our first time to both cities, and we are overwhelmingly excited to share our experiences with you!

Working so much has definitely put its wear on us, and we can’t wait to have some much-needed time off, and get back to posting! With less than a week away before our trip, like any girl, we have been constantly thinking of what to wear, when to wear it, what to bring, where to go, what to see, what to skip. Luggage, beauty essentials, tickets, boarding passes, passports, double-check tickets, get nails done, get hair done…whoo. Add on a full on work week, studying, eating, gymming, emails, meetings….and somewhere we manage to fit in sleep. Julie and I miss seeing each other more often, and the both of us are looking forward to spending a lot of gal time together on vacation. This is a trip of a lifetime that we have been talking about forever, and it’s finally here.

Just wanted to drop a note to let you know that we’re sticking around, and we miss you. How are you?!

More posts are on their way! TTYL

J & K meet OscarPRgirl Erika Bearman

5 Apr
Good morning fashionistas!
The both of us were blessed enough to have the opportunity to meet Erika Bearman aka OscarPRGirl live and in person at her personal appearance this past Tuesday at Holt Renfrew on Bloor St. Both of us are raving fans of Erika and love pretty much everything she does. Erika started off OscarPRgirl when she was approached by CEO Alex Bolen about her blog! They enjoyed the content and thought with social media becoming a strong communication tool, they pitched the idea to Oscar and he loved it, which led to her landing the role of OscarPRgirl.
Erika discussed everything from the social media world and her position as PR director, to all her infamous ‘selfie’ photos wearing Oscar gowns!
Did you know that as the PR director of Oscar de la Renta she receives a clothing package as part of her salary? She even mentioned how Oscar keeps her in check cause all sample pieces are a 24 waist! Haha.
She was so easy going, honest, really approachable and as stunning in person as she is in photos! 🙂
We not only saw her at the event but twice after that! We definitely regret not asking her to go for a drink and continue our conversation from the event. We were cut short because we were truly just having a conversation with her and took a little more time than we expected! (Sorry girls!). We could have talked for hours!
Here are some photos from the event!

J & K at Toronto Fashion Week – David Dixon F/W 2013

30 Mar

Loves!

This was our first time at Toronto Fashion Week, our first time attending a fashion show of this magnitude, and our first time really getting out there and talking to SO many bloggers, stylists, buyers, merchandisers, and just down right amazing people! Such a rush!

We were lucky enough to attend the shows on both Day 2 and Day 5, thanks to a very good friend of ours Catherine. After a bit of a taste, you can only imagine how zealous we were that we weren’t able to be in attendance the entire week. None the less, here are a few shots of us at the tents! Out of the designers we saw, one of the first and also one of our favourites was David Dixon!

David Dixon was all about women empowerment! The show began with a video where a woman was frowned upon when making a comment in regards to the gentlemen’s conversation. Showcasing that women should not speak for we do not know half of what men know. Men are smarter than us but then the screen shatters and says ‘bullshit!’ It was probably one of the best openings I (J) saw from all the shows that we watched. The one aspect that really popped from Dixon’s show was the neck feature of all the feathers! I absolutely adored it! I could really see this being a trend for next fall. I know I’ll be rocking it! 🙂

David Dixon’s show was definitely very empowering. The music was enticing (insert Run The World by Beyonce here) and the models looked and felt so comfortable and sexy in his clothing. The strong lines of blacks and whites, the pop of cobalt blue, and who can forget about those stunning crystalized accessories in everything from earrings, ear cuffs, necklaces and bracelets. Such a fantastic finishing touch to these sophisticated, yet edgy looks. Here are a few shots of us enjoying the tents after the show 🙂

First Impression – H&M Spring 2013

28 Jan

Happy Monday! Spring is here!

No. It isn’t. I’m sorry about that. We in Canada anyhow, are far from it. Okay..not that far, however it sure does feel that way with the -17 weather we’ve been having lately. I have actually started to feel like a prisoner to my winter jacket – I wake up, I get ready to head out, and I throw on this comforter of a jacket to keep me warm on my commute to the office. I get there, I do my thing, and then I throw the comforter right back on, with gloves, a thick knit scarf, and a beanie to boot! (Yes, it’s THAT cold) I’m proud to say that I’ve taken all the right precautions this season, and have avoided the dreaded cold and flu by keeping warm, eating well and taking vitamin C, however I miss the self-expression! Does anyone know what I mean? I can’t wait to be able to throw on a pair of jeans, a cute top and a blazer, and perhaps a pair of flats! Does anyone remember flats?? Haha……honestly.

Anyhoo, I’ve noticed the new Spring and some of the Summer collection trickling in at H&M, and I wanted to share just a few of my favorite anticipated pieces. Has anyone else already gone out and picked out something for Spring? I know we’re all programmed by now to lust after the pastel shades, flowers, whites, beiges, and the occasional POP of color when Spring rolls around, and will it get tired eventually? Perhaps. But after feeling like a Nona in my feather filled coat day in and day out for 3 months, I can’t wait to rock some of these pieces out. The tassel detailed accessories? That studded vest, and those spring jackets? Yes!

I’m in love with all most of the items from the Spring 2013 collection. I appreciate that H&M has decided to ease into the season by keeping  dark, cool colors such as reds, greens, blues and of course black in a lot of their pieces. This creates a much easier transition from your fall and winter wardrobe into spring and summer; unless of course you’re a big fan of just walking out of your house one sunny day, in an all-pastel concoction as a way of announcing that you have officially left winter behind. (Don’t try this at home)

I’ve even included some of my personal favorites for the boys! That striped-short, baseball cap, sweater combo?? I adore!

Winter Skin

14 Nov
Hello hello!
Fall is amongst us, with winter not far behind. The leaves are now falling, apple cider is in stock, and the purchasing of leather boots is in demand. With winter only a few weeks away, it brings us harsh winds, a higher heat bill and last but not least DRY SKIN. If you didn’t know before, I’m here to let you know – Your skin loses moisture during the colder months due to the environments we place ourselves in. Outside in the cold air, then right into heated offices and homes. Sleeping soundly is great any day, however dry air from furnaces and heat sources suck moisture from your skin. To keep your skin supple, fresh feeling and healthy; you should change your skin routine up to adjust to the weather changes.
I’m a huge believer in SPF every day, but what about your nightly regime? Are you stripping your skin, or pampering it before bed so you can ensure that moisture is locked in? Not everyone can manage a humidifier in their room, however if you can; this can be one of the best things you can do for your skin during the cold months to maintain a healthy moisture level while asleep. A furnace heated room can hold less than 10 % moisture, whereas your skin should be receiving more than 30% humidity to stay properly moisturized.
If you shower at night, keep it short and warm, as opposed to long and hot (no pun intended) Lukewarm water is best for showers in general during the winter months followed by a generous application of a moisturizing lotion and nightly moisturizer. I actually also recommend using a serum or oil based product nightly 2-3x a week. I have been teetering from using Nuxe’s 24 Hour Moisture Emulsion to a few dabs of Bio-Oil a few times a week which has done wonders not only for my pigmentation and acne scarring but has left my skin feeling so soft. I picked up both of these products at Shopper’s Drug Mart. In addition to this, I take fish oil. Salmon oil specifically, but taking fish oil and omega 360 supplements do wonders for skin, hair and nails. Of course, remember to drink plenty of water!
What are your best skin care tips during the winter? Let J and I know in the comments

Off duty in ruby

27 Oct

Hey hey hey!

I had these photos taken last Sunday when the beau was in town. It was late morning, and we were heading down to Yorkdale to do a bit of shopping. I’ve noticed in the most recent of days that the leaves were starting to turn from beautiful yellows and oranges to dark browns and to say the least – miserable black specks of what once was. Winter is really creeping up on us! I’ve been loving dark denim, simple tops or sweaters with chunky, long cardigans and boots. (I ordered these boots on JustFab.com and I am obsessed!) I’m also absolutely smitten with this MK cross body purse that Julie gifted me for my birthday (kind of love her..!) What better to top this all off than a red matte lip?

This “Ruby Woo” lipstick from MAC has been an obsession of J and I ever since we hit the counter at The Bay. Slapping this red lip on instantly picked this outfit up and brought it to life.

Hey lovelies!

So as Kathleen and I stated we will be catching you guys up on what we’ve done in the past couple of weeks. Well I finished my PR duties with Miss Brazil Canada and it was a success!! We had an amazing turn out, all guests were dressed as if they themselves were in the pageant haha. We even had a group of young adults take a limo to the festivities! I felt like I was back at prom lol. Regardless, I had such an amazing time and it was probably the best experience I could ever ask for. It was my first time doing PR all on my own, contacting media, writing press releases, scheduling photoshoots, etc but it all paid off 🙂 I met the most beautiful, intelligent, courageous young ladies during this pageant and honestly every one of them deserve the crown! Here are some photos of the night!
