J & K at Toronto Fashion Week – Pavoni F/W 2013

4 Apr

It’s our 2nd day at Toronto Fashion Week! We were so excited to hit the tents again, and even more excited to see one of the most anticipated shows of the season – Pavoni Fall 2013. Here’s a bit of a lowdown on Pavoni, for those who just aren’t too familiar with the brand. Pavoni is a fairly new kid to the couture fashion block. Think – Luxe, sophisticated, elegant, sexy, intricate, lace, sheer, embellishment, ballroom, glitter, jeweled, classic, unique..we can go on, but these are just some of the words that come to mind when we think of some of the pieces that Pavoni has created. Absolutely unreal.

Pavoni was an incredible and classic catwalk scene. We definitely wish we had a number of Gala events to attend so we have an excuse to own these beautiful gowns. Hopefully Holt Renfrew will have a trunk show soon so we can see these gowns in person! And maybe try on for fun? 😉

J&K on the Best Dressed at the 2013 Oscar’s Awards

25 Feb

Did you catch The Oscar’s last night? I have to say, I was personally looking forward to it for some time; especially when I found out that Seth Macfarlene would be hosting. For those who don’t know, I (K) am a big fan of Family Guy and American Dad…and to be honest just most cartoons in general. Haha, my opinion on his performance? I did enjoy most of his jokes; however it was a bit awkward to see the reaction from the audience full of actors and celebrities who he has brutally humiliated and/or made fun of on his well-known cartoon. (Awkward much?) I did love his small tap dance bit with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Daniel Radcliffe, great opening.

My (J) highlight of the night was ARGO winning Best Picture!! I cannot begin to express how proud I am that this film won! Ben Affleck not only directed this film but also was the lead actor. I remember watching this film with K right when it came out! I was filled with much anticipation to see how this movie was going to play out especially when Canada played such a great role in helping the Americans in a time of need. This film was absolutely incredible! To see countries helping out each other even when it may put they themselves in danger and just overall how we can be compassionate with one another is all I need to see. Much deserved, well done ARGO! 🙂

Enough small talk! Onto the fashion! Who was your favorite? Who didn’t deliver? Here’s our scoop!

Jessica Chastain glowed in this beaded rose gold dress by Armani Privecustom, might we add. Coincidentally enough; Jessica Rabbit styled tresses and Hary Winston jewels. We need not mention her captivating performance in Zero Dark Thirty

Jennifer Lawrence WON my heart in a Dior Haute Couture dress and Brian Atwood shoes. Jennifer also won for Best Actress in a Lead Role for Silver Linings Playbook. I am pretty much obsessed with everything this woman does. I love her simple beauty, I think she is a phenomenal actress and she is only going up from here (K)

Charlize Theron stopped us dead in our tracks in this absolutely beautiful Christian Dior Haute Couture dress. Not only does this dress flatter her stunning figure; but this pixie cut! This woman is MADE for short hair. She has a flawless complexion and fantastic bone structure. Not to mention, she is just plain beautiful. We are LOVING this!

Amy Adams showed up in this beautiful light hued Oscar de la Renta gown. Nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Master. I’m (K) personally a fan of lavish and extravagant gowns at events such as The Oscars, so this was a big win for me. I love the almost feathery detail and the sleeveless just flatters her petite frame so well

Kerry Washington in MIU MIU. I’m a HUGE Kerry Washington fan (K), and I absolutely loved the movie Django, however I have to say that for some odd reason, on Kerry’s last few appearances – this woman just cant seem to have some decent pictures taken! At the Grammy’s, she looked beautiful but the pictures just didn’t show her off enough! All that aside. I love this dress on her. I adore the embellishment at the top. Kerry has a small frame and therefore the sleeveless option, I think, was the right call. The color is right on trend, and the train length was just right for the occasion.

*gasp* Now this…this right here is hands down one of my favorites of the night. Amanda Seyfried in an intricate custom made Alexander McQueen gown, Lorraine Schwartz jewels (of course), and Roger Viver shoes. Amanda knocked it out of the park for me. Does my love for her have something to do with her phenomenal performance in Les Miserables? Perhaps. But none the less, who can be mad at a custom-made McQueen?? Beautiful neckline showing off her fantastic arms and that body! Win. Win. Win

Now. Seeing Anne Hathaway win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in Les Miserables had me on my feet. Her role as Fontine had me in tears and she performed incredibly. Her dress wasn’t a #1 choice for me, however as the night went on; it sort of grew on me. Wearing this Prada duchesse satin column gown, I do feel that the light pink color suited her complexion and short, dark hair. It brought out her beautiful face and that amazing smile. I just wish she lost that necklace! I admire the risk she took switching to this dress 3 hours before arriving and did I mention the risquĂ© nipple detail? Oh Anne..(K)

Well! Those are our winners of the night on the red carpet. Do you agree?
