This was our first time at Toronto Fashion Week, our first time attending a fashion show of this magnitude, and our first time really getting out there and talking to SO many bloggers, stylists, buyers, merchandisers, and just down right amazing people! Such a rush!
We were lucky enough to attend the shows on both Day 2 and Day 5, thanks to a very good friend of ours Catherine. After a bit of a taste, you can only imagine how zealous we were that we weren’t able to be in attendance the entire week. None the less, here are a few shots of us at the tents! Out of the designers we saw, one of the first and also one of our favourites was David Dixon!
David Dixon was all about women empowerment! The show began with a video where a woman was frowned upon when making a comment in regards to the gentlemen’s conversation. Showcasing that women should not speak for we do not know half of what men know. Men are smarter than us but then the screen shatters and says ‘bullshit!’ It was probably one of the best openings I (J) saw from all the shows that we watched. The one aspect that really popped from Dixon’s show was the neck feature of all the feathers! I absolutely adored it! I could really see this being a trend for next fall. I know I’ll be rocking it! 🙂
David Dixon’s show was definitely very empowering. The music was enticing (insert Run The World by Beyonce here) and the models looked and felt so comfortable and sexy in his clothing. The strong lines of blacks and whites, the pop of cobalt blue, and who can forget about those stunning crystalized accessories in everything from earrings, ear cuffs, necklaces and bracelets. Such a fantastic finishing touch to these sophisticated, yet edgy looks. Here are a few shots of us enjoying the tents after the show 🙂
On J: Blazer- Forever 21, shirt- Alexander Wang, pants- H&M, necklace- Aldo, heels- Louboutin, flats- Zara
On K: Top/Bottom/Heels-Zara (Can you tell I’m obsessed?) Necklace-H&M, Bracelets-J.Crew
Stay tuned for more! -j&k
We headed down to College Street a few days ago on what we thought at the time, was one of the coldest days of the year, for a little lunch and window shopping. We were lucky enough to catch the last of the sunlight and got a few shots in with our new Canon T3i camera. What do you think? College Street, quite specifically Little Italy, is one of our favorite areas in Toronto; known for locally owned shops, boutiques and of course restaurants. Some of our favorites are below
One of the best brunch spots I (K) know? – Aunties & Uncles (cheap, cheerful & delicious- on a Sunday morning around 11am? Expect a bit of line up)
How about some of the best corn on the cob you’ll ever taste? La Carnita’s is a must (GREAT street art decor!)
Don’t have much going on Friday night? Head over to Riva Supper Lounge for a fabulous night out with friends! Great place for some Italian cuisine with exposed brick interior, then head to the back room where booths are set up and the DJ plays the best Top 40 and Trance!
Of course, we can’t forget about the best gelato in the city at Dolce Gelato (Cream Cacao for J and Pistachio for K)
Looking to have a cosmo with the girls? Head over to Eat My Martini
Where are some of your favorite spots on College?

ITG reels you in with honesty, fantastic photography, and amazing content for the beauty obsessed! Every time we read an article on ITG, we feel empowered, inspired and beautiful. I met Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere at her in-store appearance & book signing on Saturday at Holt Renfrew, and it was a great success. I had such a good time, and left even more excited than when I had arrived. Alongside my good friend Simone, we were able to get there about an hour early, get assigned a number from the event co-ordinator on the 3rd floor in the cashmere department, and browse around before getting into a line to await Emily’s arrival. With intricate details such as porcelain teacups, a Victorian-style frame as a backdrop, paired with retro style chairs & a pop of tangerine color – the atmosphere was perfect. Add a few Prairie Girl cupcakes to the mix and us girls were in heaven. (I was anyways, their cupcakes are amazing!)
I am so inspired by Emily, and the success that has come from her site. The dedication she has for her followers and fans really came through as she spent a few minutes with each of us to thank us for coming out and answering any questions we had for her. It was a bit intimidating thinking of what I wanted to say to her. I didn’t want to be redundant and tell her what I assumed everyone else was telling her which was “Hi Emily, I LOVE your blog!”, haha. I did let her know that she was and continues to be a big inspiration to both Julie and myself, and asked her advice on how we can improve, maintain and sustain a successful blog. Her advice was to keep a very clean looking site, with great photos, relevant content, and remember to have fun. I think we can all agree on said advice, right?
A big thank-you to Holt Renfrew on Bloor for hosting this event. It was beautifully executed, and all the staff, as usual, were very accommodating. I am smitten with Emily’s book. I think it’s the perfect gift for any stylish girl on your Christmas list this who loves to entertain, enjoys a good desert, an even better cocktail, and some fab d-i-y projects. (I’m lookin at you pg.152!) 😉
Save the date!
Emily Schuman of the well renown blog “Cupcakes & Cashmere” will be at Holt Renfrew Bloor St. on Saturday.December.8th at 2:00PM for a personal appearance and book signing of her book that was released not too long ago of the same name -Cupcakes & Cashmere. (Order online here)
Emily’s blog has been one of my very favorites, long before I started blogging myself. She is a big inspiration to not only me, but thousands of girls and women who love food, beauty, home decor and fashion. Her posts are always vibrant, colorful and full of life. And her witty and bubbly personality shines through her writing. You can always depend on Emily to have a trick up her sleeve when it comes to perfecting those decadent chocolate chocolate chip cookies, or some blueberry crumb bars for brunch with the girls on Sunday.
Emily’s taste in decor is also quite tasteful; with detailed photos and advice on everything from paint swatches to organizing your messy make-up drawers. (I know I’m not alone here)
If you haven’t checked out Cupcakes & Cashmere yet, what are you waiting for!? I am so excited to meet her and have my book signed. I hope if you’re in the Toronto area next weekend that you can make it out too.

Let me start off by apologizing for my absence. I have been pretty sick for around 2 weeks with a terrible cold which then turned into a throat infection. I completely lost my voice and I have been on the road to recovery and back to being myself! It was fate that my voice came back to me, and I was feeling much better just in time for me to celebrate my birthday yesterday. My birthday is actually in December, and to make quite a long story short – I decided last year, after many years of stressful planning, booking time off, and freezing cold nights waiting in line at a nightclub in the middle of December that I was going to celebrate my birthday away from the holiday season this year. Not only is December a very busy time of the year for myself (and everyone I know), but it’s proven to be a very expensive one as well. My beau’s birthday is on December.4th followed by mine on the 10th, and Christmas is not too far behind after that.
I spent some time searching for the perfect venue to have dinner with some of my closest friends at Local Restaurant & Lounge was the perfect choice. The atmosphere was exactly what I had envisioned with beautiful lighting, classic, clean design, mixed with elements such as a brick wall backdrop, leather seating and dark wooden fixtures. The menu had a great, simple selection that catered to every taste; might I add that the food was absolutely delicious. (J and I had the steak!) Shortly after midnight, the dinner tables are cleared out and made way for a dancefloor. Before our eyes, this restaurant turned into one of the best “clubs” we had ever been to together. The music was amazing, the crowd was eclectic with everyone from young professionals, to your industry folk who drop in for a bottle of grey goose, down to your up and coming 20 somethings who frequent Local on a Saturday night for a good time. It was definitely a birthday to remember and a spot I plan to revisit!
I had yesterday and today off to spend time with my beau. He ended up having to work a double shift before making the 12 hour journey over to see me, but we both couldn’t have been happier when he arrived.
Work has been getting to the both of us and we each happend to catch a cold at the same time, oddly enough. Yesterday was surprisingly warm, warm enough for me to wear this sleeveless tee without a sweater or blazer out! I was quite pleased, and wasn’t expecting to have any pics taken, but my biggest fan snuck some shots in 😉 I rocked this new tweed style blazer from H&M for the evening. I have class on Tuesday nights and we went to see a late movie, so I knew I’d need it not only for the chilly theatre, but for the commute home. In fact, in an attempt to jazz this blazer up, I’m on the hunt for a jeweled brooch to place on the lapel. It would make a world of difference in how I can transition this blazer from work to play.Once downtown, we ended up seeing End of Watch starring Jake Gyllenhall, and it was really intense! Def a reccommendation. I also stepped it up a bit from the casual, and wore these heeled booties I picked up from TJ Maxx when I was in New York. What have you guys been upto?
Hola mi amor’s
This tiny photo op was completely unplanned. My beaux was in town for 2 days and we headed up to Yonge and Lawrence for some brunch. We ended up walking past this park that I’ve been intending to have some pictures taken at for awhile now ( I don’t know how I forgot that we would be and I didn’t plan appropriately ) None the less, I never leave the house without camera in tow, and these babies survived the outcome of my forgetfulness. I’m wearing a few basics that pretty much every girl has in her closet. White linen tee, dark denim and sandals. Lawrence Park is so beautiful. It still shocks me how much I haven’t seen in my own backyard, and this park is a keeper. Well kept, bike and hiking paths, beautiful flowers and trees everywhere, and this beautiful stone staircase! I am pretty smitten with Yonge and Lawrence as an area in itself to be honest. Definitely a permanent photo shoot spot. Where are yours?
