Top 10 Beauty Bits from Sephora

7 Jan

It’s a brand new year, and for a lot of people, this means that a new life change may be in order. For others, maybe a few small changes that can really impact how you feel this year. Is your makeup routing becoming mundane and repetitive? We know the feeling, and we are so excited to try out several different make-up looks this year. Lots of color for the lips, cheeks, and a few different hairstyles every now and then too. Makeup is definitely one of the easiest ways to transition your look from day to day – even from day to night! Maybe you’ve never worn a red lip? Shimmery eyes? Coral cheeks? Anything that can really make you look and FEEL confident, stunning and the centre of attention?

Well let me tell you.

Every girl, every woman loves to feel pretty. We all like to feel desirable, and feel good about ourselves, and I just feel that you can never go wrong with a little somethin, somethin from Sephora. I see Sephora as a euphoria of playgrounds. It’s a place where so many possibilities can blossom from. A lipstick color can completely change your look, a sweep of the right shade of peach blush can take you from tired to glowing, the perfect black eyeliner can complete that sultry smokey eye on a Friday night and a spritz of perfume can change your mood overall. I experience all of these feelings whenever I walk into a Sephora.

Here are some picks that caught our eye, and are anxious to try out. Oh, and guess what else? Everything is under $50 (your welcome)

Let’s start with the base, shall we? Every girl needs a good moisturizer. I know, I know. You’ve heard it all before, but it shocks me when I talk to someone who says they hardly use a quality moisturizer, but then complain when their skin is lacking luster as the seasons change. During this cold season, I have been inclined to try out Philosphy’s Hope in a Jar. (One of Oprah’s all-time favorites, I’ll have you know) 4.oz for $52 (Yeah, yeah, $2 over – but worth it!!)

Now this 2nd product is one that both of us are HUGE fans of. We were both lucky enough to attend the grand opening of the new Sephora at the Eaton’s Centre back in November, and in our goodie bags, we received a deluxe sized sample of ‘No.28 Primer Serum’….This primer..is nothing short of amazing. Now I, (K) am a big fan of primers, and I have used almost all of the best primers out there. This one takes the cake. The “28” in the product’s name refers to the formula’s key ingredients, which include 14 essential oils, 10 lipid-rich plant oils, and four vitamins. Water-resistant, neutralizes redness to create an even skin tone, minimizes the appearance of all visible pores, fine lines, imperfections and extends the durability of all makeup applied on top of it. Julie, on the other hand had never used a primer in her life, so she started off with the best! Our makeup stays on all day, and looks flawless. Now..the downside is this primer is $75! Yes. Take that in. That’s the price for 1oz, however .33oz is $26 which is most likely what we’ll be going for. Amazing product! Must-have in any make-up kit.

Kathleen picked this up for me as part of my Christmas gift, as I had been wanting a great eyebrow highlight for a while now. It’s perfect for swiping right under the arch for some lift and brightness. This pencil comes in 2 shades, however only the soft pink is advertised on the Sephora website. I own the “champagne pink” tone which has a bit of a more gold sheen which is perfect for my skintone.  – J

Nars Blush in Albatross, $28

This blush hands down can be used as an illuminator and works great! I’ve used this time and time again. It’s a must have on my list. It will give you that perfect glow for the night and looks great in photos. – J

Now, we’ve all heard the rave about BB creams. Who hasn’t come out with a BB cream yet? I’m surprised I haven’t seen the makers of Dawn dish soap come out with a multipurpose BB cream. It almost makes it difficult to choose which one is best for you – however the numerous amount of positive reviews on Smashbox’s Camera Ready BB cream can’t be denied, and for fresh, flawless and even looking skin, while also getting the moisture and SPF protection we all need? This one’s a winner. This BB cream comes in 5 shades and is available for $39

Dior Show Black Out Mascara, $25

This mascara extends the lashes and is the blackest of the black! I love putting this mascara on cause it really opens up my eyes and my lashes are so long, they look magnificent! – J

I have been needing a really good finishing powder to set my foundation, and I’ve been pretty satisfied with M.A.C.’s blot powder, however never really fell in love with it to begin with. Tarte is a brand I’m quite fond of (their Amazonian Clay Blush in “Tipsy”?..uh. Love), and this finishing powder, so rightly named as the “Smooth Operator” has me intrigued. Available for $36

I think this eyeliner set is fabulous! Especially all the colors they provide are colors we can use for everyday as well not just going out. – J

Nars Lipstick in Fire Down Below, $24

This semi matte lipstick is like a blood red colour which fits into the show stopper category, you can do no wrong with a red lip after all. – J
