J & K meet OscarPRgirl Erika Bearman

5 Apr
Good morning fashionistas!
The both of us were blessed enough to have the opportunity to meet Erika Bearman aka OscarPRGirl live and in person at her personal appearance this past Tuesday at Holt Renfrew on Bloor St. Both of us are raving fans of Erika and love pretty much everything she does. Erika started off OscarPRgirl when she was approached by CEO Alex Bolen about her blog! They enjoyed the content and thought with social media becoming a strong communication tool, they pitched the idea to Oscar and he loved it, which led to her landing the role of OscarPRgirl.
Erika discussed everything from the social media world and her position as PR director, to all her infamous ‘selfie’ photos wearing Oscar gowns!
Did you know that as the PR director of Oscar de la Renta she receives a clothing package as part of her salary? She even mentioned how Oscar keeps her in check cause all sample pieces are a 24 waist! Haha.
She was so easy going, honest, really approachable and as stunning in person as she is in photos! 🙂
We not only saw her at the event but twice after that! We definitely regret not asking her to go for a drink and continue our conversation from the event. We were cut short because we were truly just having a conversation with her and took a little more time than we expected! (Sorry girls!). We could have talked for hours!
Here are some photos from the event!

Better early than never…wait

23 Oct

Friends!

Let me start off by apologizing for my absence. I have been pretty sick for around 2 weeks with a terrible cold which then turned into a throat infection. I completely lost my voice and I have been on the road to recovery and back to being myself! It was fate that my voice came back to me, and I was feeling much better just in time for me to celebrate my birthday yesterday. My birthday is actually in December, and to make quite a long story short – I decided last year, after many years of stressful planning, booking time off, and freezing cold nights waiting in line at a nightclub in the middle of December that I was going to celebrate my birthday away from the holiday season this year. Not only is December a very busy time of the year for myself (and everyone I know), but it’s proven to be a very expensive one as well. My beau’s birthday is on December.4th followed by mine on the 10th, and Christmas is not too far behind after that.

I spent some time searching for the perfect venue to have dinner with some of my closest friends at Local Restaurant & Lounge was the perfect choice. The atmosphere was exactly what I had envisioned with beautiful lighting, classic, clean design, mixed with elements such as a brick wall backdrop, leather seating and dark wooden fixtures. The menu had a great, simple selection that catered to every taste; might I add that the food was absolutely delicious. (J and I had the steak!) Shortly after midnight, the dinner tables are cleared out and made way for a dancefloor. Before our eyes, this restaurant turned into one of the best “clubs” we had ever been to together. The music was amazing, the crowd was eclectic with everyone from young professionals, to your industry folk who drop in for a bottle of grey goose, down to your up and coming 20 somethings who frequent Local on a Saturday night for a good time. It was definitely a birthday to remember and a spot I plan to revisit!

3 Wants, 2 Needs, 1 Lust

3 WANTS:

Slouchy hat:

Ok so I don’t know the proper term for this hat regardless this hat is purrrfect for the fall! Not only is it so cute with loose curls and a dark lip but it protects your ears from the chilly cold. It’s a great add on accessory to your outfit where you won’t go unnoticed 😉

MAC lipstick in ruby woo:

I discovered this lip shade from watching a makeup tutorial by ‘makeup by camila’ on YouTube. Camila used this colour and it looked absolutely gorgeous! It’s a great colour for day and night and I’ve been thinking about incorporating more lip shades to my look so this shade would be a fabulous start!

Zara leather jacket:

Now that it’s fall season you must own a leather jacket! This item should probably be on the Need list because it is essential! As the weather changes, wool coats are not to be brought out just yet but a simple sweater isn’t enough. Leather jackets are just the right piece to add onto your everyday look!

2 NEEDS:

Rag and Bone booties:

I’m in love with these booties! Its an amazing bootie to wear everyday to work and school. Not too high of a heel so you can wear them for long hours and it just adds a little style to every look. Lalalovee!

H&M Tweed blazer:

For fall 2012 a tweed blazer is the right choice! Its a classic really. Tweed blazers will never be out of style, thats right I said it. Tweeds are great for the fall, gives you the extra warmth for the weather and would be great with a matching trouser. Am I wrong? Don’t think so.

1 LUST:

Stella McCartney cobalt wool coat:

I am loving absolutely everything Stella McCartney, she’s one of my favourite designers! This year’s FALL 12 collection is stunning. Her prints, sharp tailoring and vibrant colours are great for this season!

This cobalt coloured wool coat is a fall trend my lovelies! Cobalt is THE colour of the season so why not show it off in a coat? Stand out from all the black!

Do you agree?

Now now… I know.

She’s no Prada, she’s no Michael, and she is definitely no Celine but I’ve had this little black bag for a few years now. I found it buried deep in my closet and the both of us decided that we would just paint the town red. It was at ALDO eyeing me as I was cashing out with some boots some fall ago. I thought meh. It’s patent black, sectioned, nicely lined and around $30, why not? And look how far we’ve come 🙂

Do you have any favorite inexpensive pieces that you can’t help wearing out again and again?

Ball Out

8 Jul

On Friday.July.6th, the company I work for celebrated the end of their financial year. The annual “Flight Centre Ball” took place at the Carlu downtown at Yonge and College which is a beautiful event “hall” if you will which has housed some phenomenal events along with breathtaking weddings and even fashion shows and events held here in Toronto. My team headed down in style, and had an amazing time. Flight Centre’s employees work extremely hard all year (I can attest) and party just as hard. They spared no expense to show their employees appreciation with numerous  awards, a wonderful dinner and as much alcohol as nearly all 900 of us from across Eastern Canada could handle. An opportunity to get dolled up and have a photo op? Perhaps…. Enjoy
