First Stop, Paris!

20 Jun

Hello!
We can hardly wait for our trip! We won’t be able to stay as long as we wish we could, but hey! Who says this will be our last time to Paris?

There are a few stops we definitely have to make during our 5 days in the city of lights, and a lot to look forward to.

As a lover of great coffee, one thing I definitely can’t wait for is waking up to beautiful mornings and French press coffee. Top it off with some fruit and a croissant before heading out to hit those beautiful cobble stone streets? Bliss!

20130617-112057.jpg
Of course, who could forget Paris’ world renown macarons from Laduree! The website alone is charming, and from what we hear, the store will blow us away with the sweet scent of baked goods, and beautiful colors we aren’t privy to in any normal bakery. It’ll definitely be tough to choose which favors to go for, but the “Rose Petal” flavour seems to be one of the most popular.

20130617-112641.jpg

Lover’s Bridge. I was once told that the sight of all the couples so madly in love will drive anyone visiting Paris without their significant other completely mad. I look forward to the day both my fiance, but will most likely be husband by that time, can visit and throw away the key to our own little padlock of love. (Too mushy, I know)

Locking padlocks on the fence of Pont des Arts has become tradition for lovers. “Locking your souls” together and throwing the key away as a sign of each other’s love and commitment to one another. This bridge actually crosses from the left bank to the Louvre Museum, and makes for a scenic walk, so why would we miss it? Maybe on your next visit, you’ll catch a glimpse of a padlock of friendship? (hint hint Julie)

20130617-112812.jpg

Another sighting that cannot be missed and in my opinion (J) is even more special than the Eiffel Tower is a visit to Chateau de Versailles! As someone who is obsessed with the 18th-19th century as I am I cannot wait to set foot on this beautiful Palais and roam the gardens! To see how the decor was back in that era is the biggest highlight for me.

20130620-093350.jpg

Who can forget walking along the La Seine River! It’s the perfect setting to just sit down, relax and catch up with friends or in our case take a little break from all the exploring. We definitely want to go at night as well just as the scene in Midnight in Paris, where Gil and Adriana took a stroll on a peaceful night in Paris.

20130620-094335.jpg

This is also a great opportunity for us to practice our Francaise! We both love learning new languages and as Canadians we’ve learned a word or two from schooling as French is our second language. France will definitely be putting us to the test! Haha.

Besides viewing all the major monuments K and I are looking forward to really discovering all the hidden treasures that Paris has to offer! All the lights, the architecture, the desserts and just overall submerging ourselves into the Parisian culture!

À bientôt!

Friends!

How can we begin to apologize for our absence? Telling you we’ve both been busy would be an understatement. We haven’t had much of a social life, and have had such a hard time even making time to see each other! The summer weather was hiding from us over here in Toronto for the longest time making photo ops difficult to schedule, and working overtime has become the norm. We’ve been grinding as much as we could in preparation for this trip we’re taking! If any of you follow us on Twitter, you’ll know that Julie and I are going to Paris & Barcelona this month! We actually leave in a few days! It is our first time to both cities, and we are overwhelmingly excited to share our experiences with you!

Working so much has definitely put its wear on us, and we can’t wait to have some much-needed time off, and get back to posting! With less than a week away before our trip, like any girl, we have been constantly thinking of what to wear, when to wear it, what to bring, where to go, what to see, what to skip. Luggage, beauty essentials, tickets, boarding passes, passports, double-check tickets, get nails done, get hair done…whoo. Add on a full on work week, studying, eating, gymming, emails, meetings….and somewhere we manage to fit in sleep. Julie and I miss seeing each other more often, and the both of us are looking forward to spending a lot of gal time together on vacation. This is a trip of a lifetime that we have been talking about forever, and it’s finally here.

Just wanted to drop a note to let you know that we’re sticking around, and we miss you. How are you?!

More posts are on their way! TTYL

Style Feature – Kerry Washington

9 May

kerrywjuneelleI fell in love with Kerry Washington years ago when she played Chenille in the infamous movie (still one of my absolute favorites, as corny as it is to watch years later) “Save the Last Dance” – Who else LOVES this movie? I feel like it was one of the coolest movies around for awhile, no? Or was that just me? Remember the drama with her and Nikki in the club? Nikki was straight up hating, and Chenille was the cool friend defending Sara. I could literally go on and on with this movie, but I digress. Kerry is also well known for her role alongside Jamie Foxx in the movie “Ray” and the award winning film “The Last King Of Scotland”chenille1
There is just something about the innocence in Kerry Washington’s face that made me so eager to know more about her. Kerry is originally from the Bronx, and actually grew up in the same neighbourhood as Jennifer Lopez (crazy, huh?) Kerry’s style is definitely up my alley. She’s no stranger to the red-carpet or the best dressed list, with some of my favorite looks being at the Oscar’s ’13 in Miu Miu, and more recently the Met Gala just a few days ago in custom Vera Wang.
kerryveraw<
Currently starring in the HIT political drama series “Scandal” as Olivia Pope, and proud owner of an Oscar for best supporting actress in Quentin Tarantino’s film “Django Unchained” – this girl is living out her dreams, and is an ultimate inspiration for not just actresses, but all women to shoot for the stars, to be kind and positive, and of course to work hard. Kerry Washington’s newest film “Peeples”, a comedy, is set to release this Friday.May.10th alongside her co-star Craig Robinson.
kerrydjango
In the June issue of Elle hitting shelves on May.21st) Kerry opens up about settling into being the star she’s always dreamed of being. With a grain of salt, she remains humble and admits that when she as a girl, she was the “kooky theater kid, silly, goofy and academic” and she claims that she feels like “the luckiest broad in Hollywood right now. To be the lead actor on Scandal and to be in the highest-earning Tarantino movie- I don’t get to ask for more.”
kerryelle2<
In this issue, Kerry is rocking some beautiful pieces by Tom Ford, Balmain, Giambattista Valli, and Giorgio Armani. I cannot wait to pick it up. Are you a fan of Kerry Washington? Let me know what you think of the issue!

Spring in B’more

28 Apr

I was extremely blessed with the time off to head over to Baltimore to see my cousin Jacob have his first communion. When I used to live in New York, visits to Maryland to see my Ate Pam and Kuya John (Ate & Kuya being filipino for older cousin) were frequent, seeing my smaller cousins as often as I could, watching them grow up, say their first words, all that mushy stuff eventually became a thing of the past when I moved back to Toronto. Spending time with them is exactly what I needed. It reminded me how important it is to keep in touch with the ones you love most, and not to wait for opportunity but rather, to make them. I was greeted by a warm, sunny morning when I arrived on Friday morning, a nice change from the bitter, rainy cold in Toronto. I cant begin to explain to you how much I’ve missed having my pictures taken outside in the warm sun. (and vice versa! I love playing photographer as well) After the service, we headed over to the Promenade by the lake in Havre de Grace. It couldn’t have been a more beautiful day. Living in cold, dreary Toronto had definitely broken my spirit! Here’s to hoping when I get back that Mr.Sun will be awaiting my arrival

Gala Celebration

9 Apr

Lovelies,

I had the pleasure of attending the UFE Gala which celebrates all accountants who have passed their UFE exam and achieved their CA (chartered accountancy). My best friend Lori passed and had asked me to be her plus one! I was honoured! It was such a great night, meeting new people, eating great food and they also had a band perform! It was glamorous to say the least! I honestly wish I had more formal nights to dress up for! They’re so much fun 🙂

Ps. Are you all loving my extensions? Think I’m going to cut a few inches off, what do you think?

Shoes!

Have I gotten your attention? I came across this brand whilst ordering a pair of sneakers on one of my new favorite websites shoedazzle.com

Shoedazzle.com, led by new chief stylist Rachel Zoe (name sound familiar?) is one of the most fabolous show-room style websites catering to fashionable women who love fashion and of course, shoes! Launched in 2009, Shoe Dazzle is dedicated to giving women access to your own unique showroom shaped by your personal style. Don’t have hundreds of dollars to blow on that trendy pair of pumps? No problem. Most of the shoes on Shoedazzle.com are under $60 and feature brands such as Chinese Laundry and of course – Beau & Ashe. I was quickly engaged by Beau & Ashe after setting my eyes on a pair of studded sneakers that I just had to have for the spring. Like any blogger with fashion on the mind, I looked them up and have included some of my favorite picks. Beau & Ashe are extremely new to the shoe game; based out of Los Angeles, B&A draws their inspiration from Bohemian and British Punk styles, mixed with a bit of Cali and Lower East Side New York. Who can guess which pair I’m ordering next?

J & K meet OscarPRgirl Erika Bearman

5 Apr
Good morning fashionistas!
The both of us were blessed enough to have the opportunity to meet Erika Bearman aka OscarPRGirl live and in person at her personal appearance this past Tuesday at Holt Renfrew on Bloor St. Both of us are raving fans of Erika and love pretty much everything she does. Erika started off OscarPRgirl when she was approached by CEO Alex Bolen about her blog! They enjoyed the content and thought with social media becoming a strong communication tool, they pitched the idea to Oscar and he loved it, which led to her landing the role of OscarPRgirl.
Erika discussed everything from the social media world and her position as PR director, to all her infamous ‘selfie’ photos wearing Oscar gowns!
Did you know that as the PR director of Oscar de la Renta she receives a clothing package as part of her salary? She even mentioned how Oscar keeps her in check cause all sample pieces are a 24 waist! Haha.
She was so easy going, honest, really approachable and as stunning in person as she is in photos! 🙂
We not only saw her at the event but twice after that! We definitely regret not asking her to go for a drink and continue our conversation from the event. We were cut short because we were truly just having a conversation with her and took a little more time than we expected! (Sorry girls!). We could have talked for hours!
Here are some photos from the event!

J & K at Toronto Fashion Week – Pavoni F/W 2013

4 Apr

It’s our 2nd day at Toronto Fashion Week! We were so excited to hit the tents again, and even more excited to see one of the most anticipated shows of the season – Pavoni Fall 2013. Here’s a bit of a lowdown on Pavoni, for those who just aren’t too familiar with the brand. Pavoni is a fairly new kid to the couture fashion block. Think – Luxe, sophisticated, elegant, sexy, intricate, lace, sheer, embellishment, ballroom, glitter, jeweled, classic, unique..we can go on, but these are just some of the words that come to mind when we think of some of the pieces that Pavoni has created. Absolutely unreal.

J & K at Toronto Fashion Week – David Dixon F/W 2013

30 Mar

Loves!

This was our first time at Toronto Fashion Week, our first time attending a fashion show of this magnitude, and our first time really getting out there and talking to SO many bloggers, stylists, buyers, merchandisers, and just down right amazing people! Such a rush!

We were lucky enough to attend the shows on both Day 2 and Day 5, thanks to a very good friend of ours Catherine. After a bit of a taste, you can only imagine how zealous we were that we weren’t able to be in attendance the entire week. None the less, here are a few shots of us at the tents! Out of the designers we saw, one of the first and also one of our favourites was David Dixon!

David Dixon was all about women empowerment! The show began with a video where a woman was frowned upon when making a comment in regards to the gentlemen’s conversation. Showcasing that women should not speak for we do not know half of what men know. Men are smarter than us but then the screen shatters and says ‘bullshit!’ It was probably one of the best openings I (J) saw from all the shows that we watched. The one aspect that really popped from Dixon’s show was the neck feature of all the feathers! I absolutely adored it! I could really see this being a trend for next fall. I know I’ll be rocking it! 🙂

David Dixon’s show was definitely very empowering. The music was enticing (insert Run The World by Beyonce here) and the models looked and felt so comfortable and sexy in his clothing. The strong lines of blacks and whites, the pop of cobalt blue, and who can forget about those stunning crystalized accessories in everything from earrings, ear cuffs, necklaces and bracelets. Such a fantastic finishing touch to these sophisticated, yet edgy looks. Here are a few shots of us enjoying the tents after the show 🙂
